Vineyard Notes
Widely considered to be one of the best Chardonnay vineyards in California, Ritchie Vineyard sits on a northwest-facing hillside in the heart of Russian River Valley. The 40+ year old vines, planted on diverse Sandy Goldridge loam, ripen slowly and are exposed to morning fog brought in from the coast. This slow, even ripening process results in beautifully balanced wines with great natural acidity. Kent Ritchie has farmed this vineyard with admirable passion since planted in 1972 and the wines produced from this vineyard showcase its quality.
Winemaking Notes
Our first vintage from this legendary vineyard site, the 2020 Richie Chardonnay is a wonderful portrayal of Russian River Valley. Clean aromas of lemon curd and honeysuckle are followed by hints of brioche as the wine opens. The mouthfeel is smooth and luscious with flavors of baked pear galette and jasmine followed by a long, mineral-driven finish.
