Vineyard Notes
Originally planted in 1868 by Hamilton Crabb, the To Kalon vineyard has produced some of the Napa Valley’s best Cabernet Sauvignon ever since gaining legendary status as one of America’s first-growth vineyards. To Kalon, Ancient Greek for “the highest beauty,” sits on prime Oakville bench land where well-drained, gravelly soils combine with optimal sun exposure to yield rich, complex flavors and impeccable fruit maturity.
Winemaking Notes
Opulent, dense and balanced, the 2019 Amici To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon is an exquisite example of the quality of wines that come from this legendary Oakville vineyard. The wine is filled with intense aromatics of roses, crushed black cherries, french vanilla, and a touch of hazelnut from oak. The palate features classic loam notes of wet earth and graphite, along with black licorice and blackberries throughout the long, sweet finish. One of our most terroir-driven vintages to date, this full-bodied, mineral-laden wine drinks beautifully now and will age for years to come.
