Vineyard Notes
Morisoli Vineyard consists of 53 contiguous acres on the famed Rutherford Bench in the Napa Valley. Gary Morisoli is the fourth generation of his family to grow grapes on this historic property, which has been family-farmed for over 100 years. Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit from this vineyard is some of the most sought after in the Napa Valley. Surrounded by Staglin Family Vineyard, Scarecrow, Joseph Phelps Vineyards and Inglenook, Morisoli Vineyard fruit exhibits classic “Rutherford Dust” qualities and rich Cabernet Sauvignon character.
Winemaking Notes
This 2012 Amici Cellars Morisoli Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that is at once complex and muscular, while elegant and beautifully balanced. With its flavors of dark fruits, dusty cocoa and hints of minerality, the wine fully expresses the distinctive characteristics and terroir of the celebrated Morisoli Vineyard.
Dense ruby-purple in color, this full-bodied wine opens with aromas of allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg leading to rich and complex flavors of black currant, blackberry, plum and cocoa powder. Framed by firm but refined tannins, it opens beautifully after an hour in a decanter revealing a soft, velvety structure. It is a wine that displays the power and elegance so characteristic of this vineyard.
