Anthony Biagi, Amici Winemaker
Amici Cellars is pleased to welcome industry veteran Anthony "Tony" Biagi as Winemaker. Biagi's extensive experience with notable Napa Valley wineries — Duckhorn, Paraduxx, Plumpjack, Cade and Hourglass among them — expertly complements the Amici portfolio, which features several small-production, single vineyard wines from prominent Napa and Sonoma appellations such as Spring Mountain District, Rutherford, Oakville and Russian River Valley.
Born and raised in California, Biagi earned his degree in fermentation science from the University of California at Davis in 1995. Upon graduation, he joined Duckhorn, where by 1998 he was named winemaker for the new Paraduxx Winery. From 2001-2003, he held the role of Winemaker and General Manager at Neal Family Vineyards. In March 2003, Biagi joined the Plumpjack Group, where he remained for nearly 10 years, serving as Winemaker for Plumpjack and becoming the Founding Winemaker of Cade in 2005. In addition to his work with Amici Cellars, Biagi consults with Winemaker Bobby Donnell on Olema.
Bobby Donnell, Olema Winemaker
Originally from Irving, TX, Bobby Donnell received his BA in hotel and restaurant management from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas while helping to start a fast-growing restaurant business. A visit to California in 2000 changed everything: he fell hard for northern California’s climate and beauty — and for his wife Shannon, who was finishing up her viticulture degree at UC Davis and became his first link into the wine industry.
Immersing himself in the world of wine, Bobby worked at Beringer as a Lab tech, followed by a full-time cellar job at St. Clement, where Aaron Pott became a mentor. After St. Clement, Bobby went to Provenance where he helped manage their Lab and Cellar operations for 6 years. He went back to school at the same time, earning his Winemaking Certificate from UC Davis in 2009.
Bobby joined Amici Cellars as assistant winemaker in 2012 and was promoted to Winemaker in 2014. In January 2016, he assumed full responsibility for Olema.
